Jim Royston is a Ministry Partner with The Columbia Partnership A denominational executive who has returned to his first love—the pastorate—Jim has a long and successful track record of developing leaders. When he left leadership of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina—an association of 4,000 churches with 1.2 million members—he had built a staff he claimed was the best in the nation. He currently serves as intentional interim pastor of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton, TN. Jim has served on numerous community and non-profit boards. One of his favorites is Habitat for Humanity. He has been an adjunct professor and lectured at several colleges, universities and seminaries. He is a frequent guest and speaker on college and seminary campuses and was minister-in-residence at Carson-Newman College in 1997. As a founding partner of The Columbia Partnership, Jim helped to create a team of Christian professionals who intentionally meld their corporate experience with their faith commitment to join battle in arenas where the contests have eternal consequences. He has a passion for helping local churches and pastors to reach their full Kingdom potential. He has coached and mentored numerous clergy through career planning. He served as a consultant in career planning throughout the southeast. During his tenure in local judicatory work in Charlotte, North Carolina, he was honored as one of the outstanding church growth consultants by his national denomination. Jim is a visionary leader who was the catalyst in the acquisition and creation of Hollifield Leadership Center. Jim earned his BA degree from Carson-Newman College in Tennessee and a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in North Carolina. Jim has been married to his high school sweetheart Jeannie, for more than 40 years. They have led numerous Marriage Enrichment events; have two adult children and three grandchildren, which they adore. He enjoys reading, handiwork and volunteering.
