Dick Hamm is a Ministry Partner with The Columbia Partnership

Richard L. Hamm is Executive Administrator for Christian Churches Together. He began this new ministry in August. He is a frequent writer and speaker in areas of church renewal. A certified coach through Valwood Christian Leadership Coaching, Dick’s passion is to help church institutions shaped mostly in the 20th century to become effective in mission in this “post-modern” era.

Dick served as General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada from 1993 to 2003 after 23 years as a pastor in Indiana, Kansas and Missouri, and three years as a regional leader.

He is the author of books 2020 Vision for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), From Mainline to Front Line, and most recently, Recreating the Church.

As a founding partner of The Columbia Partnership, Dick helped to create an organization which intentionally melds the corporate expertise of partners with their faith commitment to enjoin skills in arenas where the battles waged have eternal consequences.

Dick is a graduate of Butler University (B.A. Religion, 1970) and Christian Theological Seminary (Dr. of Ministry, 1974). He has twice been recognized for mediating settlements in school districts and thus averting teachers’ strikes and has long been active in justice concerns.

Dick is a member of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches and a former Vice President of the National Council of Churches in the U.S.A. He has traveled extensively, and has preached from Brisbane to Beijing and Geneva. He holds seven honorary degrees.

He received the “Model Minister” Award from the Indiana Region in 1990. He has served in rural, exurban, urban and suburban settings and has been an associate minister, founding pastor of a new church, and senior minister of a multiple staff.

Dick and his wife Mindy live in Indianapolis. They have two adult children and a grandson and a granddaughter. Dick also enjoys astronomy and golf.
