Fast Track Coach Training

Fast Track Coach Training Returns for 2008!

The Columbia Partnership's popular Fast Track coach training process is back for a third year in 2008.

Fast Track Coach Training is an intense, advanced process for taking coaching to a higher level. This process includes eight modules, held at Hollifield Leadership Center over four weeks throughout the year.

Designed to satisfy the training requirements for certification through the International Coach Federation, this process prepares individuals to coach in a variety of contexts. Click here to download a description of the eight modules included in Fast Track Coach Training.

Jane Creswell, one of TCP's facilitators for Fast Track, says the programs as been well received. "We're thrilled to be offering this advanced level of coach training for a third year. We've obviously tapped into a growing need among Christian leaders."

Creswell added, "Our growing list of facilitators is adding value to the participants' experience. Students are able to learn from a variety of styles and viewpoints from as many as eight different facilitators."

Fast Track consists of eight courses originally developed for Western Seminary in Portland, OR. Participants in Fast Track coach training will be able to take all eight courses in one year, which is not possible through the seminary classes.

Beginning with foundational coaching principles, the Fast Track coach training process moves through more advanced coaching topics throughout the eight courses: [Download Fast Track 2008 Course Descriptions]

  • 501--Building Blocks for Powerful Coaching introduces the basic principles of coaching from a Christian perspective. This course covers specific skills used by coaches, as well as models for having coaching conversations.
  • 502--Establishing a Dynamic Coaching Relationship covers the components necessary for a strong coaching relationship. Participants will learn to orient around strengths and to clearly communicate the benefits of coaching.
  • 503--Coaching Change, Transition, and Transformation helps participants distinguish between these levels of change and the most appropriate coaching skills for helping people navigate through them.
  • 504--Coaching as Learning Catalyst offers insight into how the brain works and why coaching works because of how the brain works. Participants will learn how to apply coaching skills in different ways to facilitate learning based on cognitive preferences and learning styles of the other person.
  • 505--The Language of Coaching introduces the concepts of metaphor, storytelling, and formulas to promote discovery. Participants will learn to recognize distinctions, yellow flag words, and how to synthesize the other person's words for the benefit of the other person.
  • 506--Personal Coaching introduces skills and resources for helping people move forward in their personal lives. Participants will learn about goal setting, needs and values, and boundaries and standards.
  • 507--Coaching Teams gives participants tools for using coaching skills in perhaps the most frequent application in a ministry setting, working with groups and teams of people. This course explores a model for teambuilding and overcoming dysfunctional behaviors within teams.
  • 508--A Coach Approach to Evangelism and Discipleship will introduce a process for using coaching skills in helping individuals move forward in their faith movement. Participants will learn new ways to have faith conversations with people at various stages in the relationship to God.
