Golden Gate Seminary to Offer a Doctorate in Christian CoachingHundreds of pastors, consultants, counselors, ministers, and Christian laypersons have benefitted from formal coach training via The Columbia Partnership (TCP). Now that high quality training is available at the doctoral level through Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary near San Francisco. Beginning in 2008 several TCP Ministry Partners and Ministry Associates will serve as adjunct faculty alongside GGBTS's faculty to offer doctoral courses aimed at empowering ministers to use Christian coaching. Eight coaching courses will be offered at GGBTS's Mill Valley, CA campus and at the Hollifield Leadership Center in North Carolina. The courses will combine with other core seminars and a ministry project to earn students a Doctor of Ministry in Ministry Coaching degree. The degree program will take three years to complete and is designed for working ministry professionals. Since 2005 TCP has offered coaching courses at the master's level partnering with Western Seminary in Portland, OR.The new program at GGBTS will be the first-ever doctoral track focused on Ministry Coaching. With this addition, GGBTS now offers ten unique Doctor of Ministry tracks. Each is designed to help ministry professionals build capacity for ministry leadership. The TCP partnership boasts a coaching faculty with International Coach Federation certification, three published authors in the field of Christian coaching, and over a thousand coaching clients.
