Chad Hall is coaching in new arenas (and old ones too)Since 2001 Chad Hall has taken coaching into new arenas. He helped launch the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina's coach training program (Valwood Coaching) and served as faculty for that program. He writes curriculum and teaches for the seminary-based coach training program, offered by Western Seminary. Along the way he also co-authored Coaching for Christian Leaders: A Practice Guide--along with Linda Miller--and earned his Professional Coaching Certification with the International Coach Federation. But in April 2007 it was coaching that took Chad into another new arena. Last year he started work with SAS Institute Inc., headquartered in Cary, NC, as a coach and trainer. SAS is the world's largest privately-held software company, with over 10,000 employees worldwide, and annual revenues of over $2 billion. The company is also frequently recognized as one of the world's best places to work. A 60 Minutes episode a few years ago highlighted the company's approach to offering employees exceptional treatment as part of a sound business strategy. But it took more than a great work environment to convince Chad to venture into the business arena. Most appealing was the challenge of bringing a coach-approach to a company who cared very much about the bottom line. The company had been providing coaches to executives and mangers for several years, but they hired Chad to help them launch a program to train leaders to coach their employees. The aim is a culture of coaching that leads to a culture of shared information, high performance, and great results. Chad is helping SAS realize this aim by doing what he’s been doing for years: coaching leaders and training leaders to use coaching. While he enjoys the challenge of bringing coaching to life within the business arena, Chad also keeps his fingers in the church world. In addition to serving as adjunct faculty for Western Seminary and the forthcoming Doctor of Ministry degree in Christian Coaching offered by Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, Chad maintains coaching relationships with a half-dozen ministry leaders throughout North America and continues to serve as Vice President for The Columbia Partnership. He’s also active as a writer and even more active as husband to Holly and dad to Sydney (7), Davis (4), and Dean (2). Connect with Chad at CHall@TheColumbiaPartnership.org.
